Patagonia/Lost Arrow's replica of the Ventura, CA historic Fire House No. 1 (circa 1909) is not only an illustration of the firm's design skill in historic preservation and reproduction, but is also indicative of its abilities to design "totally green."

Once part of a manufacturing compound for farm implements and equipment, the Rio Farm administrative building design incorporated natural lighting and innovative space planning to transform a factory into a bright and spacious work area for this California vegetable grower.

The nation's first and largest grower and processor of fresh onion products was in need of a larger facility to accommodate an increase in customer demand. JSA implemented a master plan and completed the project in phases. The expansion saw the build-out of a new processing plant, storage coolers, and nurseries.

Cate
School is a private boarding school for grades 9–12 located in
Carpinteria, California. The Folger Center at Cate is used as an
administrative building and a gathering place for admissions
directors and potential Cate School families. JSA Architecture and
Planning maintained the original turn of the century Monterey
style of the building, using track and sky lighting to create a
comfortable, homey feeling. JSA has also designed faculty cottages
for the school’s teaching staff, maintaining the Monterey style
form of the original site and existing buildings, which date back
to 1910.

The
original St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Ojai, CA, now the Ojai
Museum, was completely restored to circa 1918 by JSA and
seismically strengthened. In 1996, JSA assisted the city in
obtaining the chapel historical status on the National Register of
Historical Places. The St. Thomas Aquinas/Ojai Museum was part of
the city’s downtown redevelopment project, which also included
the famous Ojai arcade, historically renovated by JSA.
